CQC / CQB / Space Hulk

Now onto this matter; I do not really blog regularly :-)

I am not really into the ideas of gossiping and ranting on all sorts of matter.

What is "Space Hulk" ?
No, it is not the "Incredible Hulk" in space. :3

Space Hulk is a board game by Games Workshop, first released in 1989 and re-released in 2009.

The game is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and draws a certain degree of inspiration from the Alien movies.
The term "Space Hulk", is used within the Warhammer 40,000 universe for any form of ancient, derelict space ships, asteroids, and other assorted space junk drifting in deep space that eventually merges into one massive form, ranging from the size of a small moon to a large planet.

Because a hulk may contain bits of lost information or technology, or hostile life forms that pose a threat to mankind, the Imperium often sends teams to search for and secure these entities.

The hulk may not stay in one place for very long. So retrieval operations must be rapid and efficient.

Aliens often make homes of these hulks and attack those who come aboard. These hulks could spread unknown aliens or virus amongst the human occupied planets, yet they are far too massive to destroy from the outside. The Mankind instead has to send an investigative force of soldiers on missions of information gathering and recovery, if need be, destroy the Space Hulks from the inside out.

Back in then, very few people knows on the idea of CQB / CQC. It is mainly confined in the realms of WW2 records and history books.

Stalingrad was famous for its reputation as a known CQB ground when every nook and cranny are known "Camping" spots for snipers.

Why "Camp" ?

German military doctrine was based on the principle of combined-arms teams and close cooperation between tanks, infantry, artillery and ground-attack aircraft.

To counter this, Soviets adopted the tactic of always keeping the front lines as close to the Germans as physically possible; this is called this "grabbing by the belt".

This forced the German infantry to either fight on their own or risk taking casualties from their own supporting fire; it neutralized German close air support ( also known as CAS) and weakened artillery support.
( Cool idea then now with JDAMs and Laser Guided Bombs or AC-130 Spectre....not sure anymore. )

Inside the tight confines of the Space Hulk, CQB / CQC is KING !

Close quarters combat
(CQC) or close quarters battle (CQB) is a type of fighting in which (usually) small units engage the enemy with personal weapons at very short range, potentially to the point of hand-to-hand combat or fighting with hand weapons such as swords or knives.

In the typical CQC scenario, the attackers try a very fast takeover of a vehicle or structure controlled by the defenders, who usually have no easy way to withdraw.

Because enemies, hostages/civilians, and fellow operators can be closely intermingled,

CQC demands a rapid assault and a precise application of lethal force.

The operators involved need great proficiency with their weapons, but also the ability to make split-second decisions in order to avoid or limit friendly casualties.

CQC is defined as a short-duration, high-intensity conflict, characterized by sudden violence at close range.

Except one thing; the Aliens inhabiting the Space Hulks are armed with sharp claws, teeth and mean streak that is a 1 mile wide !

The player who are using the soldiers in this game will have pull everything out of their hats to counter the aliens.

Will stop here now before people say this is a Wall of Text :D

Later then for next part.....
